Utah's Hogle Zoo

Utah's Hogle Zoo creates champions for wildlife. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy hundreds of resident animals at various exhibits like African Savanna, Wild Utah, Great Apes, Primate Forest, Small Animal Building, Rocky Shores, and Asian Highlands. Since 1974 Utah's Hogle Zoo has been a proud member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, meeting and exceeding the highest animal care, wellbeing, and facilities standards.     ALINE W. SKAGGS WILD UTAH 

    Utah’s Hogle Zoo unveiled the Aline W. Skaggs Wild Utah exhibit this year! The three-acre expansion marks the culmination of years of planning to extend guest access to Hogle Zoo’s east side and opens a new chapter in the zoo’s history by highlighting one of the most diverse landscapes in the world. Resident species feature Utah wildlife, including cougarsdesert bighorn sheep, burros, gray foxes, skunks, western toads, yellow-bellied marmots, and desert tortoises. Learn more about the Aline W.     Highlights of the Aline W. Skaggs Wild Utah exhibit:  

    • In the Norma W. Matheson Education Animal Center, guests can experience an interactive animal care kitchen and see ambassador animals that are part of Hogle Zoo’s informal science education enhancement (iSEE) second-grade outreach program.  
    • Guests will see Hogle Zoo’s western toad conservation project up close in the Utah Amphibian Conservation Room.  
    • Bee mural by renowned artist and bee advocate, Matt Willey. Willey founded The Good of the Hive and has committed to painting 50,000 honeybees---the number necessary for a healthy, thriving hive---in murals worldwide. Hogle Zoo is Willey’s first mural in Utah.    
    • The Joseph M. Simmons Foundation Nature Play Area & Interpretive Campsite provides a unique opportunity to expand awareness of the natural world, sharing ways to be Wild Aware and enjoy the outdoors responsibly. 
    • In the Maker Space, guests can join hands-on conservation activities, including creating seed pods and planting pollinators.

    • You’ll visit a zebra’s bedroom during Hogle Zoo’s Giraffe Barn Tour. Check out a giraffe's living room as we become African Savanna keepers for the afternoon. On this private, behind-the-scenes tour, guests will learn how to care for and feed the tallest animals at Utah's Hogle Zoo. 
    • VIP Cart Tours are the perfect way to see Utah's Hogle Zoo before it opens. This 2-hour VIP cart tour of the zoo is catered to your group's interests and is led by one of our expert tour guides in an open-air golf cart. 
    • Pull out your stethoscope and discover what it's like to be a veterinarian during our L.S. Skaggs Animal Health Center Tour. You'll tour an off-exhibit space not regularly open to visitors. Look at x-rays and blood samples and meet an ambassador animal as you learn how veterinarians help to maintain the health of the zoo's animals. 
    • Have you ever been curious about how Utah’s Hogle Zoo cares for lions, warthogs, and meerkats here and in their natural habitats? Do you want to see lion care headquarters? We aren't “lions” during this behind-the-scenes Lions and Friends Tour, you’ll learn all about our warthogs, meerkats, and lions while you have a PAWS-itively roaring’ time!
