When you’re not at the stables, you’ll fill your days creating crafts, practicing outdoor skills, and picking activities in the new camper choice blocks! Campers will earn the Horseback Riding badge.
Horseback Riding Programs
Campers in equestrian programs will be grouped according to experience level, and lessons for each group will be geared towards the least-experienced riders. Lessons include riding instruction, stable maintenance, and ground school (learning about the animals and tack and how to care for them).
Horseback riding is a sport that requires physical coordination, balance, and the ability to follow directions. Campers in horseback riding programs will hike to the stables for every horse program block, located three quarters of a mile uphill from the main camp. For everyone’s safety, participants not following directions from equestrian staff will not be permitted to ride. For the soundness and safety of our horses, riders may not exceed 250lbs.
