Sample life in the saddle during this mini session of overnight camp! Practice some basic horseback riding, learn about riding equipment, and participate in basic horse care at the stables. This program is a great introduction to staying away from home and seeing what camp is all about! Campers will create their own special bear at our mobile Build-A-Bear Workshop® then take them on an adventure around Trefoil Ranch, including a special tea party picnic! Campers will also enjoy a traditional campfire with s’mores, a trip to the bouldering wall, and a project in the art room. Campers register for and are grouped by Girl Scout level. Horseback riding is not included.

CITs will expand their skills in camp counseling, improve their ability to manage and teach children, learn about risk management, and practice resolving difficult situations. Working as a team, students will learn how to combine 2d moving puppets with large background scenery drawings to create moving pictures. During this week, we will be creating a visual representation of Camille Saint-Saëns’s masterpiece: “Carnival of the Animals”. By the end of the camp, these kids will have a complete animated short film they created from start to finish!

Artful Repairs: Hand-Stitch Mending (Age 12-14)

Visible mending makes each stitch a sign of who you are, where your clothes have been, and where they become unique, carrying a piece of you. In this course, we will explore different techniques for mending and embellishing garments via hand sewing. Students will learn about the Japanese arts of Sashiko and Boro patchwork, as well as embroidery and applique. Each student will be able to try all techniques and work on their own projects.
