Stay salty this summer in this field-based science camp! From investigating macroinvertebrates in City Creek to airboating on Farmington Bay, each day we will go on an outdoor field trip to explore the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. Along the way, we will practice science and art to learn about migratory birds, water quality, geology, and environmental stewardship. At the end of the week, campers will leave with an outdoor activity journal and brine shrimp hatch kit to continue their fieldwork at home! Co-sponsored with FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake.
Learning Outcomes:
- Investigate the natural phenomenon of Great Salt Lake's ecosystem
- Understand the basic dynamics of the Great Salt Lake watershed
- Understand how upstream water consumption affects the ecosystem
- Gain appreciation for Great Salt Lake and responsibility to protect it
Details: Lunch is NOT provided. Please send your student with a sack lunch. Reminder emails will be sent out before camp begins and will include location notes and other details.
