To prepare for Make Music Day STL, which will take place on June 21st, get your young musicians involved in the stay-at-home music instrument making activity.
Children learn how to create a musical instrument from available household objects following instructional videos offered by performers and educators from Bash The Trash. The videos teach how to make innovative designs for wind, percussion, and string instruments with an exciting new approach to building instruments from everyday refuse.
After their instrument is ready, they can learn to play a song on their new instrument (“Ode to Joy”, “Baby Shark”, or any other song of their choice). Record your child's performance, then post it on Make Music Day, June 21st, on social media with the hashtags #makemusicstl and #bashthetrash to join in the music celebration!
The instructional videos on how to make instruments are available HERE. Also, find the scientific explanation on how the instruments work HERE.
