Las Posadas - Chapman Branch Library

The Chapman Branch invites you to Las Posadas, a religious event that honors hospitality and community by celebrating Mary and Joseph's journey into Bethlehem. We'll gather outside for a cup of hot chocolate, followed by a traditional procession with chants and candles, then go inside for a live performance and breaking of a piñata. La sucursal de Chapman te invita a celebrar Las Posadas, un evento religioso que honra la hospitalidad y la comunidad al celebrar el viaje de María y José a Belén. Nos reuniremos afuera para tomar un chocolate caliente, seguiremos con una procesión tradicional de cantos y velas y para terminar entraremos para presenciar una interpretación de canto y romper una piñata.

Las Posadas combines Aztec customs with early religious colonial traditions. The festivity started in Mexico but evolved over centuries and today is celebrated in Latin American countries and the United States.
