Intro to Sailing (Age 14-17)
Beginner Sailing Camp is perfect for those new to the water, focusing on fundamental sailing skills, water safety, and confidence-building. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will learn basic boat handling, steering, sail control, and knot tying while exploring calm waters. No experience? No problem! This camp is all about having fun, gaining new skills, and developing resilience as you harness the wind and navigate the open water. Co-sponsored with Summit Journeys.

Learning Objectives:
- Boat Terminology & Parts (Understanding key components like the hull, mast, boom, rudder, and sails)
- Rigging & Unrigging (Setting up and taking down sails, attaching lines, and securing equipment)
- Knot Tying (Learning essential knots like the bowline, cleat hitch, and figure-eight knot)
- Points of Sail (Understanding wind direction and how it affects boat movement,upwind, downwind, reaching)
- Tacking & Jibing (Basic maneuvers for changing direction safely)
- Sail Trim & Control (Adjusting sails to optimize speed and efficiency)
- Docking & Departing (Techniques for safely launching and returning to shore)
- Capsize Recovery (How to right a small sailboat if it flips)
- Navigation & Safety (Understanding basic right-of-way rules, weather awareness, and emergency procedures)
