Salt Lake Shakespeare opens the 2015 summer season with the celebrated characters of Charles Schulz's comic strip as they present the classic musical You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown June 11-21, 2015. For more than sixty years, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the whole “Peanuts” gang have been making childhood just a little more wonderful. It is a truly universal story that spans generations, and this summer we are thrilled to bring this two-time Tony Award winner to Salt Lake City.

Although considered a “good man” by his friends, Charlie Brown can’t seem to win the heart of the “little red-haired girl.” His friend, Lucy, can’t win the heart of her crush, the piano-playing Schroeder. As Snoopy and Linus daydream, the rest of the gang encounters kites, school, baseball and misunderstandings before they finally realize what makes them happy. Music Director, Alex Marshall conducts the five-person live band that the audience will see throughout the whole performance, as part of the set design by Thomas George. The musical play is directed by Denny Berry, Head of the Musical Theatre Program.

Michael Mayer of American Idiot, and Spring Awakening fame, had his hand in the revival of this Clark Gesner’s work from 1967. “Mr. Mayer tells the same tales, but with a fresh pace more a tune to our Twitter attention spans. Our production takes this a step further than even the 1999 Broadway revival. Our tale spans a day on the playground, allowing us to jump from episode to episode in the adventures of our Schulz friends,” says Berry. She challenges the audience to keep up with the speed children change direction and focus, for a delightful experience the whole family can enjoy

Salt Lakes Shakespeare audiences will remember cast members John Yerke (Charlie Brown), Arielle Schmidt (Sally), with Megan Shenefelt (Lucy), Wilson Hicken (Schroeder), Matthew Stott (Linus), and Connor Norton (Snoopy) for their youthful and playful performances.
