PERFORMING ARTS CLASSES
Acting Class (five to eight year olds): Students participate in theatre games and acting exercises such as story dramatization, to develop their imaginations and creativity. Students perform at an end of session showcase.
Acting Class (nine to twelve year olds): Students participate in theatre games and acting exercises such as story dramatization, to develop their imaginations and creativity. Students perform at an end of session showcase.
Acting Class (twelve to seventeen year olds): Students work on developing character, improvisation and auditioning skills. Monologues and/or two-person scenes are performed at the end of session showcase.
Acting Class (adults): Students work on character and scene development. Monologues, improvisations and/or two-person scenes are performed in class during each session.
Musical Theatre-Voice and Movement (nine to twelve year olds): Students will be introduced to the basic components behind proper vocal technique. Using a variety of exercises, they will begin exploring their own musicality. Emphasis will be placed on ear training and breath support. Students work on specific songs in a group setting, where some basic movement may also be added. Students will have the option of performing the songs at the end of session showcase.

Beginning Stage Combat: Deals with the basics of stage combat, including fist-a-cuffs (face and stomach punching, elbow smashes, kicking, choking, throwing and falling(, posture, movement and stage presence (body awareness). There is an emphasis on realism, extreme physicality and, above all, safety - including the safe handling of swords and knives. Various aspects of acting and characterization, vocalization and theatre discipline relating to Stage Combat and the rehearsal process are also covered.
Advanced Stage Combat: Involves the utilization of the skills introduced in the beginning course and thus the beginning course is a prerequisite. It includes rapier swordplay, entailing the style of fighting utilized in many HCT productions. The safe and proper handling of swords, both on stage and off, is intensely covered. Period physicality and body posturing, as well as extreme physicality is also emphasized. Participants should expect to be tired and sweaty!
Creative Movement: Students will be taught to utilize their bodies to find their physical and mental centers while developing their focus and imagination.

Adult (18+) Saturdays 2:00 – 3:30pm $135
Musical Theatre (Voice and Movement) Classes:

Students will be taught techniques of good vocal production along with basic musical theatre movement.
An end-of-session Showcase will be held on Thursday, November 5 th at 5:00pm for ages 5 to 12.
The Showcase for ages 12 to 18 will be held Saturday, November 14th at 5:30pm.
The Showcase for adults will be held Saturday, November 14th at 7:00pm.
All prices include a Hale Centre Theatre T-shirt.
There are discounts for more than one student from the same family and for taking multiple courses.
