Mad Science Summer Camps are 3-hour day camps. Children ages 6-12 do hands-on science experiments with a specific theme for each camp. The program provides all the supplies participants will need for their on-site experiments and activities they can take home. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack and water bottle.
The daily themes for this camp will be as follows:
The Water Works - Go for a swim with some nautical engineering. Span gaps by building bridges and balance buoyancy with brilliant boats. Test existenting designs, then improve on those with ideas of your own!
Fun Fair - Investigate biomimicry and mechanics with crazy creatures and a spinning swing machine. Learn the physics behind your favorite amusement rides and create things that can challenge the steepest of slopes!
Transportation - Wheels, axils and friction: get a grip on automotive engineering! Build a Lego vehicle, then shift into the fast lane with transmissions and gear ratios. Create your own car and learn to optimize its mechanisms!
Design - Engineering needs creativity! Learn about mechanical engineering using pulleys, planes, and levers. Build a mechanical drawing machine and use it to make art or design blueprints.
