When adults go through a divorce, there are programs available to assist them in making the transition, including a mandatory class offered through the Utah State Courts. But what about the children of divorcing parents? The Utah State Courts has developed a program to help bridge the gap. It is available for children 9 - 12 years of age whose parents are divorcing or going through a divorce. It is presented twice each month at the Matheson Courthouse, 450 South State Street, Salt Lake City. This program, taught by mental health professionals, helps children with skills they can use to better express their feelings to parents. This class is free of charge and is not inteded as psychotherapy and participation is voluntary.
