Orem Reads: General Programs

*The event has already taken place on this date: Mon, 10/16/2017
In 2017 the Orem Library will celebrate the tenth anniversary of Orem Reads, an annual community reading event that restores reading to the center of American culture.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The Library will host twelve events in connection with our annual giveaway of this year’s book, Summerlost by Ally Condie, author of the critically acclaimed and international bestselling Matched series. Published in 2016 and nominated by the Mystery Writers of America for the 2017 Edgar Award, Summerlost is a charming coming-of-age mystery for middle grade readers that explores themes of friendship, ghosts, coping with grief and loss, and having family members on the autism spectrum, all against the bustling and secret-laden backdrop of the Summerlost theater festival, inspired by the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City. Free copies of Summerlost will be available after each Orem Reads event while supplies last. A schedule and summary of events for Orem Reads 2017 is listed below and on oremlibrary.org. Highlights include the kickoff event on September 18—a series of interactive workshops presented by the Utah Shakespeare Festival PLAY Team—and the finale on October 16—a reading and discussion of Summerlost by Ally Condie, followed by a book signing.
