It's been 20 years since the first Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was published, and that's something to celebrate. On the evening of Friday, July 28, The King's English Bookshop will magically transform itself into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and offer three classes - Herbology, Potions, and Charms - for Salt Lake's wizards and witches.
To enroll in the Hogwarts courses, students must be Harry's age (11) or older.* Students can pay their $10 tuition fee online, in person, or over the phone, to register for the three courses. Classes will be taught consecutively in one of three time blocks: 5 p.m., 6:10 p.m., or 7:20 p.m. A portion of the tuition fee will benefit Friends of Orphans, (we think Harry would approve). Space is limited as Hogwarts prides itself on its low student/teacher ratio, and registration is required, so sign up soon! Sorry, no refunds.
Can't make it to class? Dress in costume and visit the bookshop anytime during the day or evening! There will be free face painting, fortune-telling, and a Harry Potter-themed Scavenger Hunt throughout the bookshop.
*Story time will be offered from 5-9 p.m. for witches and wizards 10 years of age and younger.
