PowerUp Chess: Tournament & Intermediate (Age 6-10)

In this camp students will advance their chess knowledge and experience through presentations and hands-on application of new opening positions and tactical ideas, tournament-length gameplay, game analysis, and, yes, students will have the opportunity to play against each other in a BLITZ tournament! This camp is geared towards students who have, at a minimum, an understanding of chess piece movement, basic mating patterns, and a LOVE for everything chess.

Learning Objectives:
- Strengthen understanding of chess strategy through practice with openings, tactical patterns, and tournament length gameplay
- Develop analytical thinking skills by studying game positions, evaluating moves, and participating in guided game analysis
- Build confidence and sportsmanship while applying skills in peer matches, including a fast paced BLITZ tournament
