The Gallivan Center is a popular downtown gathering space. It regularly attracts large crowds to its concerts and special events. Some must-dos include the outdoor ice skating rink and the fountain (plan on having the kids get wet in the summer!).

The newly renovated John W. Gallivan Utah Center features a user-friendly layout with an expanded grassy amphitheater, a larger, updated ice rink system, a unique array of art projects and a gorgeous two-story, copper finished, banquet, party and meeting facility. Its inviting atmosphere is complemented with performance areas of all sizes, intimate spaces and vantage points that make the Gallivan Center a comfortable and fun place to enjoy all kinds of activities, casual strolling or simple “people watching.”

The Gallivan Center provides a focal point for the downtown crowd to gather for lunch or a short reprieve from the day’s hectic work schedule. Special events such as festivals, concerts, cultural performances, holiday celebrations, weddings and public celebrations make the Gallivan Center a lively and exciting gathering place year-round. Best part is, most Gallivan events are FREE, if not affordable!

The Gallivan Center is owned by the Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City Public Services has partnered with the RDA to provide the management, programming and maintenance. Both entities are working towards establishing a public urban area that has the versatility to provide a recreational, educational and vocational site for families and individuals of all ages.
