DNA Mutations - Natural History Museum of Utah

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 12/21/2018
Join Molecular Biologist Eric Bogenschutz to learn how scientists are using genome sequencing, computers, and mice to study DNA mutations that affect human health. See how studying the diaphragm muscle both allows us to learn how tissues are created and what genes may be altered to lead to a nasty developmental disease called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernias. Observe firsthand dissected mouse models of CDH we use in the lab to study how the disease develops and how we determine which cells are altered in the disease.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Scientist in the Spotlight is held on the first and third Friday of each month from 2-4 p.m.The program allows Museum guests to meet real scientists and discuss their research. See link below for additional scientists in the series.

Included in Museum admission, free to members and University of Utah faculty, staff, and students with a current U ID.
