Join us for a City Nature Challenge biobltiz at Swaner’s Wetland Ponds. All the observations you make will count toward the 2019 City Nature Challenge and help to guide the management of the Swaner Preserve. Learn more about the City Nature Challenge at nhmu.utah.edu/challenge.

What will you find at the bioblitz? | A guided iNaturalist observation walk to Swaner’s Wetland Ponds. Meet at the EcoCenter then head out to the ponds located on the private, south side of the Preserve. Registration is required for this event.

What is the City Nature Challenge?

We are surrounded by nature in our neighborhoods, parks, and even in our downtowns. Between April 26 and April 29, cities around the world are competing to document their urban nature with the iNaturalist app in the City Nature Challenge 2019. Showcase our rich local biodiversity, win prizes, and compete for the Wasatch Team in this international citizen science quest.

What should you bring?

• Bring your mobile device. If you don't have a mobile device, we'll have a few iPads on hand that you can try out. If possible, download the iNaturalist app and set up your account before you arrive. If you need help getting set up, we'll be happy to assist you at the event.

• Long pants, closed-toe shoes, a water bottle, and sunscreen will help keep you safe and comfortable. You may want a daypack, jacket, or hat. Feel free to bring your favorite field guide to plants, birds, insects, etc.
