*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 10/22/2021
Put your creative talents to work and explore environmental themes in art, photography, or writing in this fun contest with an October 22 deadline.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Forests purify the air, sequester carbon, provide a source of shade and cooling, help regulate the climate, manage flooding, protect wildlife habitats, and foster biodiversity. Plus, they are perfect places for outdoor exploration and adventure! Yet forests and natural green spaces are rapidly disappearing from our cities and suburbs. The few that remain are increasingly precious—like Guilford Woods, a beautiful but threatened 15-acre remnant forest at the southern edge of the University of Maryland’s College Park campus. Put your creative talents to work and celebrate the beauty of Guilford Woods and the importance of environmental stewardship in art, photography, or creative writing. The contest is open to all ages, and the deadline for submission is October 22.
