Campers will have the opportunity to explore outer space, create with a variety of materials and techniques, experiment with art and food, learn to be eco-friendly, create from recycled materials, use the force, write new spells, and of course, make tons of cool art! Get ready to get messy! In this camp we will explore all kinds of fun ways to make art using unexpected materials with an emphasis on process. From making our own paint to marbling paper and composing sun prints, we will have fun getting experimental with our creations. Part 1 and Part 2 will not repeat projects so sign up for one or both.
Week 1 
Cabinet of Curiosities
June 4-8 • Grades 2-4 • 9am-4pm • $260

The curiosity cabinet was the original museum. They were small collections of extraordinary things. You would discover objects like dragon’s blood, unicorn horns, and two headed calves.  In this camp we will build our own “cabinets” and have fun imagining and creating the oddities to be stored inside of them.

Week 2      
To Infinity and Beyond 

June 11-15 • Grades 2-3 • 9am-4pm • $260
Get ready to launch off into space! We will build our own miniature spaceships and imagine what we will see on our journey to new planets and far away galaxies. Explore black holes and discover alien civilizations. Join us this week and we will take you on an artistic adventure out of this world!

Fox in Socks
June 18-22 • Grades K-1 • 9am-4pm • $260
Oh the thinks you can think, oh the places you can go! Journey with us through the colorful, wacky world of Dr. Seuss and be inspired by the creatures, plants and places you find in his stories.  Each day will feature a different book to spark creativity through a variety of art media and techniques.

Week 4
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
June 25-29 • Grades 4-6 • 9am-4pm • $260

Have a blast in this girl’s only camp! We will explore our alter egos with funky mask making. Create art we can wear and have fun putting on a Bad Dog fashion show at the end of the week. We will also create beautiful artwork inspired by the work of famous female artists.

Artsplosians / Part 1

Jedi's and Droids

Join us for this exciting week inspired by the famous Star Wars saga. Explore the light side and the dark side and become one with the force. Learn about the three pillars of Jedi strength, Force, Knowledge, and Self-Discipline and use these principles to master new artistic skills and techniques to create your best art ever!

Wizards and Wands

All aboard the Bad Dog Express! Join us as we reinvent the imaginative world of Harry Potter. Birds of a Feather Go ‘Green’ Together - Partner Camp at Tracy Aviary 
July 16-20 • Grades 3-4 • 9am-4pm • Register with Tracy Aviary
Birds do a great job keeping ecosystems healthy, and this week, we’ll learn from the best as we discover what we can all do to protect our environment. In the mornings, we will meet birds, play games, and learn how to keep our feathered friends happy and healthy with Tracy Aviary’s expert bird nerds. Then, in the afternoons, we will make art projects inspired by our newfound knowledge with the artists from Bad Dog Arts.

Rhythm Makers - Partner Camp Location TBA

What happens when music and art collide? In the mornings we will learn about music from different cultures. Explore rhythm, beats, and sounds by playing a variety of percussion instruments. In the afternoons we will discover what it’s like to draw and paint in response to the sounds we hear in music. Using all types of unexpected objects and materials get creative building and playing your own instruments. We will have fun making shakers, rain sticks, drums, and thumb pianos!

Dinoland

Travel with us to prehistoric times when dinosaurs roamed the earth! Learn about different
types of dinosaurs and have fun making your own dinosaur fossils. Use basic shapes to draw and collage dinos and pretend to be one of these ancient reptiles with your very own dinosaur

Spaces and Places

This week we will be inspired by the spaces and places created by humans throughout history as well as the structures made by animals in nature. We will learn to think like architects and explore using different types of materials to build all sorts of interesting structures, habitats, and dwellings.

Artsy Avian Abodes Partner Camp - Partner Camp at Tracy Aviary

Spend a week with Tracy Aviary and Bad Dog Arts exploring Utah’s amazing habitats and the birds that call them home, as an artist, naturalist, and adventurer! Each morning campers will investigate a different kind of Utah habitat and the incredible birds that live there with Tracy Aviary’s expert bird nerds. In the afternoon, campers will unleash their creativity with the artist from Bad Dog and make art projects inspired by their newfound knowledge.

Fractured Fairy Tales - Partner Camp at Glendale Community Learning Center 
July 30-August 3 • Grades 2-6 • 9am-4pm • $260
You know that favorite bedtime story that you could never get enough of? How about giving it a little twist? Under the direction of an accomplished storyteller, we will allow our favorite story to come to life and morph into something slightly strange or unfamiliar with you as the star!  Each morning we will practice and play with our stories and in the afternoon work with Bad Dog artists to create the craziest costumes, sets and props to use as we take these twisted tales to the stage.  Oh the strange new stories we will tell!

Week 10
Creative Critters 

August 6-August 10 • Grades K-1 • 9am-4pm • $260
So many different creatures walking, flying, slithering, and swimming on our planet. In this class we will use our knowledge of bugs and animals we already know combined with our imaginations. Have fun inventing, drawing, painting, and sculpting new wacky critters no one has ever heard of before!

Garden, Art & Cooking - Partner Camp at Glendale Community Learning Center 
August 6-August 10 • Grades 3 -6 • 9am-4pm • $260
When it comes to cooking competitions, why do celebrity chefs get to have all of the fun? Kids will start each day first picking fresh veggies from the garden then, getting creative in the kitchen by learning to expand their culinary skills. By the end of the week we will have a friendly competition to make the best tasting, most visually appealing meal by adding your own creative twists. In the afternoon, campers will use visual arts media to learn about famous artist’s food-inspired artworks. Learn lots of new art techniques to draw, paint, and sculpt to create your own garden and foodie art!

Week 11
Dragons, Dragons 

August 13-17 • Grades 2-4 • 9am-4pm • $260
From Hungarian Horntails to the Peruvian Vipertooth, we are going to explore the magnificent world of dragons. We will create a variety of dragon inspired art projects such as detailed dragon drawings, dragon collages, large ferocious paintings, and mixed media dragon sculptures.

We Can Be Heroes
August 13-17 • Grades 2-6 • 9am-4pm • $260
Have you ever suspected you might have a hidden superpower?  Ever wished you could fight evil and make the world a better place?  Now you can!  In this theater camp we will be creating our own super stories complete with heroes, sidekicks and super villains!  We will also make props, masks, and capes to help us fight the forces of evil. Come and find your inner superhero!

General Information (Please Read)
•  Child must be AT LEAST 5 years old to attend camp.
•  Register your child for the camp grade level that he or she is entering in Fall 2017.
•  Registration fees include all camp materials.
•  Full-Day Camps run from 9am to 4pm unless otherwise noted.
•  Campers attending full-day camps must bring their own lunch and refillable water bottle.
•  Bad Dog Arts will provide a morning snack and afternoon snack.
•  Children will stay on site and will be well supervised at all times, including lunchtime.
•  Space is limited to 16 participants unless otherwise noted.
•  After enrolling online, you will receive confirmation e-mail within 48 hours and a request to fill out the online registration form. We request that forms be completed no later than one week prior to your child’s first day of camp.
•  All artwork will stay on-site at the Bad Dog studio until the last day of camp.
•  All camps end with a mini-art exhibit component during the last half hour on Friday. Parents and other family members are invited to attend and admire the wonderful artwork.

Drop Off and Pick Up
Bring your child to Bad Dog Arts South West Entrance of the Artspace Commons Building at 824 South 400 West, Suite B131, Salt Lake City, Utah. Pick up is the same.

Parents must Sign-In & Sign-Out their child each day.
 
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your camp registration, email the Programs Coordinator at programs@baddogarts.org no later than three weeks prior to the camp start date/time. Let us know your child's name and the camp name and date. A refund, less a cancellation fee, will be issued only if your cancellation request is made at least three weeks prior to the camp date/time. No refunds will be given after that time. Full-day camp session cancellation fee is $50. Short weeks are prorated. We are also unable to refund for missed days of camp.

Transfer Policy
If you need to transfer your child's registration from one camp to another, you may do so up to two weeks prior to the start date. Email the Programs Coordinator at programs@baddogarts.org to let us know your child's name and the camp name and date he/she is currently signed up for and the camp name and date you wish to transfer to. A $20 service fee will be charged per child per class/camp. The transfer fee may be paid on the first day of camp.
