The third annual Utah Inclusive Arts Festival will take place Saturday, May 20 at the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts and Education Complex. The festival is designed to promote arts integration in the schools and in the community, and to build bridges of success for individuals with disabilities.
Every child and adult deserves to experience the joy of dancing, acting, making music, and creating new works of art. Families, friends and educators participate alongside individuals with disabilities, creating a truly integrated environment. Everyone becomes a performer, exploring shape, rhythm, and qualities of movement. Everyone learns about the elements of music through singing, playing instruments, and developmental play. Everyone creates performance pieces that expresses their individuality and contributes to a larger effort. These pieces are shared in a culminating performance that includes guest artists from local schools.
Our vision is for the Utah Inclusive Arts Festival to be a yearly celebration of diversity, inclusion, arts, and education. To make art is an essential human experience. To make art alongside children and adults with disabilities is a profoundly moving, joyful, and uplifting experience. Join us as we look to the future, creating life long memories and building bridges through the arts.
Educators will receive a full 1 USOE credit/7 hours if they attend the event, as well as an educator workshop on Friday, May 19 from 4:00-6:00 pm at the BTSAEC. Register for the workshop via ontrack for $25 (course number 64721).
