Kids 5 & up are invited to join Becky and Joel Wallin in the Storytelling Wing, Mondays at 4 pm, through June and July to reenact Shakespeare plays.

June 5, Monday

Shakespeare for Kids: Twelfth Night

Kids 5 and up are invited to join Becky and Joel Wallin for another summer of reenacting Shakespeare plays, beginning with Twelfth Night, a classic comedy where mistaken identity temporarily detours the course of true love between Viola, Duke Orsino, and Olivia. Little ones (4 and under) can attend a special storytime in the Liger’s Den each week during Shakespeare for Kids.

Shakespeare for Kids: The Merchant of Venice

Antonio wagers a pound of flesh to secure a loan for his friend, Bassanio, who needs money to woo the fair and clever Portia.

Prepare yourself for a tearjerker! King Lear features disloyal children, mad kings, wise fools, and a wild storm.

It’s mistaken identities all around, as a pair of separated twins (and their identical twin servants) cross paths.

July 3, Monday

Shakespeare for Kids: Henry V

Join "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers" as Henry V leads the English troops against the French and very discouraging odds. Will this wild boy have the fortitude to inspire his soldiers to victory?  Will he win the heart and hand of Catherine, the French princess? Who will get to play Prince Hal?  Ages 5 and up are invited to participate in this interactive Shakespeare reenactment led by Becky and Joel Wallin, while younger ones can join in the Liger’s Den for a special storytime.

July 10, Monday

Shakespeare for Kids: Pericles

Join in the adventures of Pericles, prince of Tyre, who seeks a wife, escapes the threats of an evil king, wins the heart of his true love, loses her and his daughter, then miraculously finds them again.

July 17, Monday

Shakespeare for Kids: Othello

Othello, a Moorish general of Venice, has secretly married Desdemona, the beautiful daughter of a Venetian senator. However, he begins to question Desdemona’s fidelity when cunning Iago plants seeds of doubt and jealousy in his mind.

Shakespeare for Kids: The Two Noble Kinsmen

Based on “The Knight’s Tale” from Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, the two noble kinsmen are Arcite and Palamon. Defeated in battle by Theseus, the cousins are imprisoned and resigned to their fate until they see the Athenian princess Emilia and both fall instantly in love.
